Lauren Isabelle Jones has been drawing since she was six, mostly in black and white. She grew up in Texas and spent summers in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. In high school she worked in alcohol inks on clayboard and made pen drawings of World War II based on old black and white photographs.

Her first oil painting was in 2018, and oil has been her medium since January 2025. She paints at home in Northern Virginia and works from her own reference photographs, most of them taken in the mountains.
